Hopper Capacity: Baseplate Mounted Conveyor Hopper Two (2) hour run time
 Escapement: Custom Side Shuttle

Project Overview

An automation company approached Bellco seeking a reliable and precise parts feeding solution for GM vehicle U-clips. The goal: deliver six identical vibratory parts feeding systems—five with clockwise bowl orientations and one counterclockwise—each with the same performance, appearance and functionality. We delivered six units, each including a vibratory bowl feeder, an extended linear track, a bulk hopper, and a robot-ready escapement.

Customer Communication

From quoting through delivery, we focused on keeping communication clear and responsive.

  • Quick, detailed quotes to kick things off
  • Collaborative design review in SolidWorks
  • Adjustments to meet specific outfeed height requirements and other system parameters
  • Regular build updates and open communication
  • Full post-installation support and a 1-year warranty

Precision Manufacturing

Building six systems to identical standards meant every detail had to align. Our high-end manufacturing capabilities ensured consistency across all systems. Every component was built using state-of-the-art machinery to ensure each unit matched in both appearance and function. This made it easier for the customer to train operators, streamline integration, and maintain performance across the line.

Designed In SolidWorks with Complete B.O.M

  • Each feeder bowl is powered by center-drive vibratory coils and supported by four sets of precision-torqued steel springs.
  • A Bellco-branded CUH digital controller, mounted in the system’s control box, drives the vibratory coil with consistent, adjustable output.
  • One bowl was built in reverse orientation to match the customer’s layout.

We custom-tooled each bowl to orient and flip U-clips accurately. To reduce operator input, we integrated Auto-Vibration Sensors that adjust the frequency automatically based on part volume, eliminating the need for manual tuning.

Extended Linear Track Design

Once the parts are oriented in the feeder bowl, they move onto the linear track, which then utilizes a vibration coil and steel springs to push the parts forward.

To account for space constraints on the customer’s machine, we designed a custom length, 60-inch linear track system.

Thanks to SolidWorks, the customer was able to visualize the integration and confirm the design before manufacturing began.

Bulk Hopper for Unattended Runtime

We added a motorized bulk hopper (with a dedicated controller) to each system, designed for long run times without requiring manual refill. A Keyence proximity sensor triggers part delivery to the bowl as needed, keeping the system running without interruption.

Escapement Built for Robot Pick-Off

The customer requested that the system singulate parts for robot picking, so we engineered a side shuttle escapement using an SMC air cylinder. To give them more flexibility, we provided flying leads, allowing their team to handle wiring in-house.

The Result

We delivered six precision engineered parts feeding systems, built to spec and ready to integrate. From the initial design phase to the final delivery, we worked closely with the customer to meet all specifications.

Identical performance across all systems
Smart features like auto-vibration sensors and robot-ready escapements to minimize manual input
Smooth integration through custom mounting hardware and pre-approved 3D designs
On-time delivery with proactive project communication from kickoff through final handoff

This project reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, custom feeding systems, built with precision, backed by clear communication, and designed to exceed customer expectations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you support integration with robotics or automation lines?

At Bellco, we design all systems in SolidWorks and provide 3D models for customer approval. For this project, we engineered robot-ready escapements and custom mounting brackets to ensure smooth integration with the customer’s existing line.

Can Bellco accommodate unique layout requirements?

Absolutely. In this case, one of the six bowls was built in a counterclockwise orientation to fit the customer’s layout. We also designed a custom double-length linear track for best fit the the customer's existing system.

What kind of post-installation support does Bellco provide?

Every system comes with a 1-year warranty and ongoing support from our team. We’re available to troubleshoot, advise on integration, or provide additional documentation after delivery.
